Cortes do Tua Wines arises from the cross between trigenary vineyards of the Tua valley and the hand of two young winemakers Ana de Almeida and Duarte da Costa.

The passion for wine, the scientific knowledge and the wine-growing tradition of the Douro have united these two young winemakers in the creation of harmonious, balanced and elegant wines.

Terroir

Located on the left bank of the river Tua, in the Douro Superior sub-region in the heart of the Douro Demarcated Region, the vines in integrated production enjoy an excellent sun exposure — south and west. They benefit from hot, dry winds results in faster maturation and better musts. The Mediterranean-type microclimate is felt with very hot summers and very cold winters, giving rise to concentrated and textured wines as only this region can offer.

Soil

The region is formed by the pre-ordovician shale-schist complex with inclusions of a granite-like structure. The geological composition provides protection against water erosion, good roots, water permeability, and high absorption of radiant energy with positive consequences in maturation and decrease in daytime thermal amplitude.

Winemaking process

The varieties used in the production of our wines are traditional castes, allied to a schist soil and an absolutely unique microclimate. No doubt the quality of a good wine is born in nature. All grape clusters are selected by hand, respecting their natural maturation, in order to obtain the perfect balance between structure and aroma. The wine is fermented in stainless steel vats for 10 to 14 days at controlled temperatures of 20º to 23º C and aged for 12 to 18 months in French oak barrels.

Rezingão · Red DOC · 2016

Rezingão is a blend of grape varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz from vineyards with more than 30 years, located on the Tua River. Vinified in stainless steel vats for 15 days at controlled temperatures between 20º and 23º C. Ageing in French oak barrels for 12 months.

Cortes do Tua is a red wine from the upper Douro region elaborated based on the varieties: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz. Vinified in stainless steel vats with prolonged maceration followed by a 12-month stage in French oak barrels.

The vineyards of Cortes do Tua come from Pombal de Ansiães and are located at an altitude of 700m. Viosinho, Rabigato, Códega de Larinho and Gouveio are the varieties that give origin to this white reserve. Stage: 40% in new FRENCH OAK barrels with weekly battonage for 7 mouths and 60% in stainless steel.

Soulmate · Grande Reserva White · 2016

Soulmate is a blend of grapes from the Viosinho, Rabigato and Gouveio varieties, from vineyards with more than 30 years, located at a height of 700m in Pombal de Ansiães. Vinified in new french oak barrels during 30 days at controlled temperatures between 10 ° and 12 ° C. Ageing in new French oak barrels for 8 months.
